When a 100% mindset is needed to inspire commitment for a better tomorrow. An insight into a youth and community engagement strategy.
To inspire commitment for a better tomorrow
A Youth and Community Engagement Strategy
When one of the regions largest tertiary education provider committed to activating the potential of youth across their region, we adopted a 100% Mindset.
The Strategic Partnerships and Māori Success team at Toi Ohomai wanted to challenge the status quo when developing the Youth and Community Engagement (YCE) Strategy for the organisation. The goal was to enhance Toi Ohomai’s ability to meet the aspirations of the youth and rural communities in the region.
We employed human centred design to understand the regional needs for success and the gaps in regional and organisational capabilities. The outcome was a strategy which required commitment from all stakeholders within the region to engage and invest in tertiary education with Toi Ohomai.
Together with the YCE team, we employed a 100% Mindset to inspire a shift from the status quo, to motivate stakeholders to envisage a new narrative and push perceived boundaries.
The strategy encouraged stakeholders to envisage a world where every single school leaver in the region is an active and positive contributor to the community, industry and iwi (tribes). As a result, the industries within the region become world leading and contribute to the success of the whole economy. We then encouraged stakeholders to explore how 100% of the students in the region can be nurtured by Toi Ohomai.
This idealistic vision empowered and enabled stakeholders to think beyond incremental measures and explore game-changing strategies to get more youth into tertiary education.
As societal and environmental challenges demand more from our strategies, we’ve found a 100% Mindset can expose unexplored opportunities to affect change.
